Self Portrait Assemblages
Kindergarten artists created self portrait assemblages doing their favorite physical activities! We thought about what our body looks like when we are in motion. We used cardboard, paper, fabric, yarn and a variety of textured materials.
Warm and Cool Mitten Resist
PK and Kindergarten artists drew a mitten using warm or cool colors of oil pastels, as well as snowflakes with white oil pastel. They painted over this with warm or cool colors of watercolor paint, creating a resist.
Snow Day Collage
Kindergarten artists created collages of houses, using a variety of different shapes to add details. We read the book The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats and then added white paint to represent snow, creating mixed media collages.
Texture Prints
PK and Kindergarten artists explored texture by printing or stamping with a variety of different materials, including sponges, bubble wrap, and bottle tops. We printed with different colors and thought about overlapping and layering our prints together.
